Stocking Ornament

Our Stocking Ornament is one of our new ornaments that just screams Christmas and is created from birch wood and latex paint with brown hemp twine for hanging.

This ornament is sure to make you reminisce about all the great things you have received in your stocking through the years.  The bright red of this piece helps it stand out against the strong green of your Christmas tree.  The design makes you think of knit Christmas stockings you may have had as a child.

This Stocking Ornament is a perfect gift for anyone in your life with a deep love of Santa!  With love from our studio in Westbrook, Maine.

  • Handmade and laser cut
  • Colors: Red
  • Materials: birch wood and latex paint

Did you know?

The origin of the Christmas stocking is thought to originate from the life of Saint Nicholas, there are no written records of it's origin. There are popular legends that attempt to tell the history of this Christmas tradition. One such legend has several variations. Here is one such story:

The villagers talking about the girls that St. Nicholas wanted to help, but knew that the old man wouldn't accept charity. So he decided to help in secret and after dark he threw three bags of gold through an open window. So one of the bags of gold landed in a stocking. When the girls and their father woke up the next morning they found the bags of gold and were, of course, overjoyed. The girls were able to get married and live happily ever after. A different versions of the story said that Saint Nicholas threw the three bags of gold directly into the stockings which were hung by the fireplace to dry.

Greg Benoit
Founder

Greg graduated with a BFA in industrial design from SCAD and moved back to Maine in 2011. He began his design career as a product designer for a national outdoor retailer. After having a life altering event in 2013 he and Christina decided to found Benoit’s Design Company in Westbrook Maine. Greg realized life is precious and wanted to design products that connected to the adventurer within everyone. He grew up in very active family who spent summer on the water and winter in the mountains. Any chance he can get he loves to travel and experience new cultures. If he doesn’t have projects up to his eyeballs than he is spending time with family and friends, dishing up something new in “Greg’s dirty kitchen”, or cleaning the dust off the shop dog, Walter.
